Who is eligible?
Teacher trainees who have completed their second year at IFEN or newly qualified teachers in the first seven years of their career (qualified in Luxembourg since 2018 for the 2025 award).
Criteria:
Energetic and imaginative recently qualified or beginning teachers who have shone in one or more of the following areas:
- Adopting an innovative and inspirational approach to the teaching of English.
- Making a substantial contribution to the culture of English teaching in their school or in the wider community of practice.
- Going above and beyond the call of duty, innovating, supporting their students, department and school.
- Linking educational theory to classroom practice.
- Applying reflective skills independently to overcome obstacles and accelerate progress.
Who can nominate?
Nominations can be made by a teacher trainer, in-school mentor or a fellow teacher.
What is the nomination process?
All nominations are submitted via a short online nomination form and should include:
- Details and consent of the nominator and nominee.
- A written testimonial (up to 500 words) by the nominator clearly outlining your nominee's qualities and achievements in relation to one or more of the aforementioned criteria. Please refer to concrete examples.
A written statement (up to 500 words) provided by the nominee outlining the various stages of their teaching journey to date and highlighting challenges they've overcome and what aspects they most enjoy about their job.

How are applications assessed?
All applications are anonymised before being assessed by an external panel of experts in the education sector.
